• Should we get another opinion from the diagnosis mom and dad just received?  Should we go to a specialist?  How do we pick a good specialist?

• What are advance directives?  Do we really need one? 

• What is a DNR and how would that affect the type of care mom and dad receive? 

• What’s the difference between palliative care and hospice? 

• At what point do we need to consider long-term care?  How do we pick a long-term care facility?   

• Who can we talk to for guidance to help us make a tough decision?

I have over 16 years working as a registered nurse.

Over the years I’ve had the privilege to help patients who are trying to navigate a health care crisis. I’ve been with my patients when they received a life-changing diagnosis and they didn’t understand all of the information they were given.

I know the frustration of being forced to step in and be the nurse to my loved ones instead of being in the moment with them, for their last years, months, days, and hours.
